I was at GA representing the HUUmanists Association (and I was supposed to be a delegate from FPC of Stow & Acton though I forgot my delegate card at home).
Hi, Mike. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Can I ask what specific things UU congregations or AHA chapters like ours could do that would make them more effective in your view?
I was on the local Board of Directors and also the International Audit Committee of the Nonviolent Peaceforce. They had a tag line that said, "What to say 'Yes' to when you say 'No' to war".
It has occurred to me that there is another vein of evidence showing that altruism and even empathy is a natural cause and not due to supernatural forces.
But also, "What's the solution? Encourage more rationalists to give money to organizations that counter the repressive, Fundamentalist organizations and do so myself."
And you cannot prove a religion is false. But you could prove evolution was false, and if you did, the theory of evolution would, *ahem* 'evolve' to take your discovery into account.
I agree with this statement, "if religious groups are to succeed in protecting human rights, a greater degree of dialogue and cooperation in the future is essential".
Good point Bruce. Faith motivates a lot of good in the world.
Very interesting, and troubling to me as a Christian. I DO hope that humanists will come together and create organizations that serve the public.
It's great to see we're making progress as a species away from the horrors of religion.

I agree with your mild criticism that "religion" is not a monolithic entity that can be accused of "
Thank you Maria. This is a great resource for resources.
Well, Religions can be shown as False One just needs to read it with an open mind not a closed mind, and would see all the falsehood in it ..
